Limited Edition Artwork

The brown hare is a typical inhabitant of the open country. There he enjoys an excellent view over the landscape and can protect himself best from enemies. Hares rest in shallow hollows in the ground, which make them invisible. With the help of the earth trough, the brown hare merges with its environment. In addition, its fur helps him to camouflage: it changes its coloration over the seasons and is darker in summer than in winter. But this is not enough to survive in the open country! Instead, he prefers to be on the safe side: When he comes back from foraging, he never takes the direct way to his shallow hollow - on purpose, to deceive enemies and to lay false tracks. Finally, he jumps as far as possible into his earth trough in order to let the track run into the void - a special talent helps him in this: he has no scent glands on his paws.
